Audio Delay Phase Calculator

Frequency (Hz): 1000 Electronic delay (ms): 0.5

Period (ms)
1.000000
Elapsed cycles
0.500000
Total phase lag (°)
180.000000
Wrapped phase lag (°)
180.000000

Period ms = 1000/f; cycles = f × delay ms/1000; total lag = cycles × 360°. Wrapped lag is the fractional cycle × 360°, rounded to six decimals then reduced modulo 360°. Example: 1000 Hz and 0.5 ms gives 180° lag. Frequency: 20–20000 Hz; delay: 0–1000 ms. Positive delay means lag, not lead. This is a single-frequency ideal delay model, not a measurement of speakers, filters or acoustic paths. Equal wrapped phase can hide whole cycles of delay; do not infer broadband alignment or polarity from one frequency.

Methodology

How it works

Frequently asked questions

Is a full cycle equivalent to no delay?

Only the wrapped phase at that frequency is the same. One cycle still adds a full period of latency. Measure the full system across frequency before alignment decisions.
