A useful PA section tells the venue what the production must achieve without pretending one equipment list suits every room. The design for a club, theatre, outdoor festival, and reverberant hall will differ even when the artist carries the same FOH engineer.
Start with these outcomes:
- consistent coverage across the ticketed audience area;
- adequate level and headroom for the artist's program;
- intelligible vocals and speech;
- appropriate low-frequency coverage for the music and room;
- fills or delays for audience areas that the main system cannot cover;
- a clear, unobstructed FOH listening position;

FOH position
FOH should be placed where the engineer can hear the audience system meaningfully. Document:
- position on the room plan;

- weather protection for outdoor shows;

- What audience configuration and sold areas will be used?
