Include computers, displays, playback interfaces, chargers, network equipment, pedalboards, instrument amps, keyboard supplies, DJ gear, wireless racks, and show-control systems. Exclude venue equipment from the artist load total unless the production specifically asks for a combined schedule.

Give the inventory and drop plan to the venue. A qualified local provider determines circuits, protection, distribution equipment, cable routing, and compliance with local rules. If isolation between production departments is needed, describe the operational concern and let the responsible provider design the solution.

Avoid false precision

“Two independent 20 A circuits” is not a safe universal request: connector systems, voltages, codes, and venue infrastructure differ. If a touring system genuinely requires a particular supply, provide its engineered specification and connector standard through the production advance. For ordinary artist equipment, supply accurate load and location data and request a compliant venue solution.

What to draw on the stage plot

Use a simple, repeated symbol and stable IDs such as PD-1. Place the marker near the equipment, not under an icon where it disappears. Add a legend stating that power distribution is venue-confirmed.

The plot should show:

  • each drop ID and approximate location;
  • number of useful local connections requested;
  • unusual connector or voltage needs;
  • artist-supplied powered racks;
  • cable routes only when they affect access, movement, or changeover;
  • audience direction and stage left/right.

Keep the detailed equipment schedule beside the plot in the tech rider. A drawing labeled only “POWER” four times forces the venue to rediscover the load during setup.

Touring across voltage regions

Before international or fly-date travel, classify each device:

  2. Switchable input: a documented selector must be set correctly before connection.
  3. Single-region input: requires an approved transformer, replacement supply, or local substitute.
  4. Unknown: do not connect until the manufacturer or qualified technician confirms it.

A plug-shape adapter changes the physical connector; it does not convert voltage or frequency. Record approved transformers and their ratings as equipment, including who supplies and places them. Confirm earthing/grounding and protective devices through the local electrical provider.

Counting outlets but not loads
